Hubungan Komorbid Diabetes Melitus dengan Tingkat Keparahan dan Mortalitas Pasien COVID-19 di RS Husada Periode Januari-Desember 2020

Abstract

COVID-19 masih menjadi perhatian utama dalam penanganan masalah kesehatan di berbagai negara, termasuk Indonesia. Keberadaan komorbiditas juga turut berperan dalam perjalanan penyakit ini, Salah satunya komorbid diabetes melitus. Selain itu, peningkatan penderita diabetes melitus semakin meningkatkan kewaspadaan akan hubungannya dengan tingkat keparahan dan mortalitas pasien COVID-19. Hal ini menjadikannya penting untuk diketahui peranan komorbid diabetes melitus dengan kondisi penyakit COVID-19. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara komorbid diabetes melitus dengan tingkat keparahan dan mortalitas pasien COVID-19. Studi ini merupakan studi analitik observasional dengan desain penelitian cross-sectional, yang dilaksanakan pada 418 pasien COVID-19 yang dirawat di RS Husada Januari-Desember 2020. Hasil penelitian mendapatkan mayoritas pasien COVID-19 dengan komorbid diabetes melitus mengalami tingkat keparahan berat/kritis (61,4%) dan keberadaan komorbid diabetes melitus meningkatkan kejadian kematian pada pasien COVID-19 sebesar 5,9 kali (p-value <0,05). Penelitian ini juga menemukan bahwa usia, penggunaan terapi insulin, dan keberadaan komorbiditas lain juga berperan dalam perburukan kondisi COVID-19.
